Residents in Texas, Shannon and Howell counties may be eligible to participate in a cost-share program to get their septic tanks pumped.

The Jacks Fork Watershed Committee suggests the following steps:

– Determine if you live within the watershed.

– Attend a 30-45 minute educational meeting. It will cover tips to help you maintain and care for your septic, how often it should be pumped and why it is important.

-Select a certified and insured septic pumper in the area. A list will be provided.

-Have your tank pumped.

-Submit the bill for reimbursement up to half the cost or a maximum of $75.

Funding is limited. To determine if you are within the watershed area or for seminar dates and a list of septic pumpers, contact Teresa Acord, project technician, at 573-226-3131 or 417-260-2501 or e-mail tknapp@centurytel.net.
