In honor of National Emergency Medical Services Week, the EMS team at Texas County Memorial Hospital is grilling hot dogs from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23, in the parking lot of Crowley’s HomeWorks in Houston.

Hospital ambulances and departmental personnel will be on hand to meet area residents. An ambulance will be available for a tour. The event is free to the public.

“This is just an opportunity for the public to meet the EMS personnel without having an emergency,” said Bill Bridges, director of the TCMH EMS department.

TCMH EMS covers the hospital service area, which is all of Texas County and portions of the surrounding counties. The EMS department has ambulances based in Cabool, Licking and Houston with plans of adding an ambulance base in Mountain Grove this year.

In 2008, the TCMH EMS department made 2,776 ambulance runs.
