Eva Susan Elrod Bonham, 79, died Saturday, May 23, 2009, near Auxvasse.

She was born May 11, 1930, in Freeburg, daughter of Willie and Nora Elrod.

She lived in the Licking area and was a member of Licking Baptist Church since the early 1960s. She enjoyed reading, old things, gardening, nature, long walks, volunteering for church and community and gathering with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; three sisters; three husbands; and a son, Fred Alers of Licking.

Survivors include two sons, Russell Wayne and John Paul of Conroe, Texas; two daughters, Victoria Lee of Auxvasse and Wanda Lee of Parsons, Kan.; a brother, John Adam of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a step-grandson; four step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Thursday, May 28, at Licking First Baptist Church with Dr. Wilbur Mobley officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery in Freeburg under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
