Donald Elmer Brim, 61, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at his daughter’s home in Pocahontas, Ill.

He was born May 17, 1948, in Texas County, son of Carol Ottis Brim and Velma Jean Dewoody Bruce. He married Margaret White.

He served in the Army from May 25, 1965, to Aug. 2, 1968, and then served in the Army Reserves until May 24, 1971.

He owned his own roofing company and worked as a roofer. He was disabled the last few years. He enjoyed helping others and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald Brim Jr.; two brothers, Carl Eugene Brim and James Ray Ashmore; and two sisters, Sandra Labee Romines; and Sherri Brim.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald L. Brim and Timothy Carl Brim of Granite City, Ill.; a daughter, Angela Jean Brim Anderson of Pocahontas, Ill.; a brother, Ronald Brim of Mountain View; a niece; five grandchildren; a stepmother, Eula Brim; four stepbrothers, Larry Labbee, Bobby Labbee, Billy Labbee, Tim Labbee; a stepsister, Rhonda Shoults; and a host of other family members and friends.

Graveside services with full military honors by Patriot Guard Riders were Saturday, July 18, at Antioch Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Steelman officiating. Services were under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
