An inmate assigned to the South Central Correctional Center at Licking and housed in a Jackson County Jail for court proceedings died early July 15, officials said.
Samuel Johnson, 69, was serving a life without probation term for forcible rape from Jackson County. He had been in prison since April 1983.
Per department policy, an autopsy was ordered.
