Bucking a statewide trend, Houston’s sales tax revenue increased about 3 percent from the same period a year ago, the Missouri Department of Revenue reports.
The tally from a one-cent sales tax was $46,276, which was up $1,280 from the same period a year ago. For the year, $374,758 has been collected. That’s an increase of about $8,155 from the same seven months in 2008.
Two quarter-cent sales taxes for streets and sidewalks each contributed $11,335. For the year, nearly $90,000 has been tallied. That’s an increase of about $1,700 from a year ago.
An eighth-cent sales tax for fire truck debt repayment totaled $5,667.
