Doyle Wayne Martin, 75, passed away Sept. 3, 2009, in Houston, Mo.
Doyle was born in Oxford, Ark., in 1933, the son of Vernon Martin and Maybelle Martin.
He was reared in Oxford, Ark. Later he attended the University of Arkansas, earning his bachelor of science. He went on to attend Arkansas State University and earned a Master’s Degree. He also attended the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
He joined the United States Air Force and served during the Korean conflict. Doyle became a school teacher, junior high school principal and finished his career in the administration as the assistant superintendent of the Malden, Mo., school system.
After retirement, Doyle and his wife Mary, relocated to Houston, Mo.
Doyle is survived by his wife, Mary Martin; his mother, Maybelle Martin; one brother, Billy James Martin; one daughter, KeeAnna (Martin) Falterman; one son, Bryan “Skipper” Jones; a son-in-law, Geroge Falterman; two grandchildren, Alysha Kee and Jeremy Falterman; and a host of other relatives and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon “Cap” Martin.
Funeral services were Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at the Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne, Ark., with Bobby Coleman officiating. Burial was in Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
