Houston is one of three Texas County communities that will compete next month at the 46th annual Missouri Community Betterment Contest.
More than 350 representatives from communities across the state will attend the event Oct. 18-19 in Jefferson City.
Houston and Cabool will square off with five other communities in Category III. The community of Summersville is a finalist in Category II.
Community volunteers will be recognized at the conference for their efforts to promote economic development and the quality of life in their towns.
