The Houston Lady Tigers took the opening set from Summersville before losing 24-26, 25-13, 25-15 on the road Tuesday night.

It was the first loss of the season for Houston (2-1).

“We came out and played one of our best sets so far,” Lady Tigers coach Debbie James said. “Then we looked like a completely different team the second and third sets. I’m not sure what made them play one game and stop.”

Lainey Casper led Houston with nine kills. Sarah Pierce had a team-high 15 assists and seven kills.

The Lady Tigers committed nine serving errors.

“I know the loud crowd at Summersville had an impact on our concentration, but that is just something they have to learn to deal with,” James said. “Sometimes you win and sometimes you learn. We’ll chalk that one up for experience.”

Last Thursday, Amber Honig, Erica Keeney and Pierce had six kills apiece to lead the Lady Tigers past Cuba 25-8.

Haylee Kell had a team-high seven digs. Honig had the team’s lone block.
