A Licking High School senior was crowned Miss Texas County at Saturday’s annual pageant.
Dustina Sutton topped the field to earn the title of Miss Texas County 2010 inside the community building at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds. Her platform was the importance of early childhood education. She is the daughter of Doug and Tina Sutton.
Jennifer Terry was named first runner-up. Lainey Casper was awarded Miss Congeniality.
The Miss Texas County Outstanding Teen went to Brandi Kell of Raymondville. She is a sophomore at Houston High School, and her platform is enriching the lives of mentally and physically handicapped children. She is the daughter of Debbie Kell and the late Ron Kell.
Casper was the first runner-up, followed by Hailey Dodson, Ellie Horbyk and Jennifer Belew.
Sutton and Kell, who will compete in June 2010 in the Miss Missouri pageants in Mexico, Mo., were crowned during the evening session. Earlier in the day, younger girls competed in four categories. Winners were:
-Tiny Miss Texas County: Katlyn Fuwell; first runner-up, Karly Drake.
-Tiny photogenic: Fuwell; runners-up, Drake and Gianna Westlund.
-Little Miss Texas County: Jaden Stell; first runner-up, Sierra Wolford; second runner-up, Trinity Synder.
-Little photogenic: Jaden Stell; first runner-up, Angel Fitzgerald; honorable mention: Sawyer and Wolford.
-Petite Miss Texas County: Alexis Fuwell; first runner-up, Kim Tieu.
-Petite photogenic: Fuwell
-PreTeen Miss Texas County: Emily Davidson; first runner-up, Alyssa Alberts.
-PreTeen photogenic: Davidson.
Scholarship sponsors for the Miss Texas County pageant were The Bank of Houston, Landmark Bank, Progressive Ozark Bank, Community Bank N.A., I.O.O.F. #372, Gentry Construction, V.I.P. Properties and Delbert and Elaine Campbell.
The winner received a prize package from TCMH Fitness Center, Downtown Barber, Sonic, Trend’s – Pattie Rust, Rebekah Lane Formalwear and Freefall Express. Miss Congeniality received a gift certificate from Miller’s Grill.
