The Houston eighth grade girls outscored Mountain Grove 19-3 in the third quarter o rally for a 54-46 victory Thursday night.
The Lady Tigers (2-0) trailed 30-21 at the half.
“Great win from these girls,” Houston coach John Jordan said. “We changed defenses midway through the second quarter and made some adjustments at halftime that really paid off. We surprised them and got some cheap baskets in the third quarter off our press.”
Alissa Bowlin led Houston with 20 points. Taylor Franklin scored 10 and Ty Bisker added eight off the bench.
SEVENTH GRADE: Kylee Elmore scored a team-high nine points in the Lady Tigers’ 35-21 loss Thursday to Mountain Grove.
Olivia Woosley and Alexis Adey scored four point apiece for Houston (0-2), which couldn’t overcome a 10-0 deficit after the opening quarter.
“We are slow starters,” Jordan said. “We are able to play a close second half but our first half is hurting us. I have seen improvement since practice but our goal is to win and improve. We have accomplished one of those. We will keep working to get better.”
