Byiron “Barney” Ray Hood, 63, died Nov. 27, 2009, at his home in Licking following a long battle with cancer.

He was born April 26, 1946, in Manila, Ark., son of Hugh Doyle and Ola Mae Lewis Hood.

He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, taking drives to visit friends and family and sitting on the front porch with his dog, Bubbie. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He enjoyed telling stories and laughing. He loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Jewel Hood, Pauline Hartsfield, Doris Higgins and Carol Wantland; and a brother, Darrell Hood.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Hood; four children, Melissa Evans of Licking, Jeff Myrick of Foristell, Kathy Allen of Farber and Angie Myers of St. Charles; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; six siblings, Alma Labbee, Frances Dixon, twin sister Barbara Fudge, John “J.D.” Hood, Howard Hood and Ronnie Hood; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Sunday, Nov. 29, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Everett Perkins officiating.
