The Houston Lady Tigers used a 17-2 fourth-quarter run to beat Stoutland 57-48 Thursday night.
It was the first victory of the season for Houston, which opened the year with losses to Eminence and West Plains.
Junior center Erica Keeney was 8-for-11 at the foul line en route to 16 points. Danielle Pounds scored nine points and Shelbi Moore scored eight.
Stoutland’s Aliesha O’Dell hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 18 points.
Houston scored the final eight points of the first quarter – capped by Jessica Herndon’s triple form the left wing – to go ahead 19-11.
Stoutland rallied to take a 29-28 halftime advantage and led 45-40 when O’Dell hit a 3-pointer early in the fourth quarter.
But the Lady Tigers erased the deficit as Keeney scored seven points during a 13-0 run. Pounds’ free throw with 1:27 remaining capped a 17-2 run and put Houston ahead 57-47.
JUNIOR VARSITY: Alexa Ichord scored 13 points and Elizabeth Hayes added 10 to lead the JV Lady Tigers past Stoutland 41-28.
