Showers fell steadily – and hard for several minutes – as Houston held its annual Christmas parade Saturday.

It was an afternoon of umbrellas and rain coats, and many chose to stay dry inside their respective vehicles on the parade route. Among them was this year’s grand marshal, Omanez Fockler, a member of the Texas County Memorial Hospital board of trustees who cared for patients at the institution before retiring as a nurse.

Earlier Saturday morning, The Animal Shelter of Texas County sponsored its annual dog show at Lone Star Plaza at Pine Street and Grand Avenue.

A page of photographs appears in the current Herald.
