The Houston Tigers fell to 0-2 as they dropped their home opener 61-48 Friday night to Hartville.
Kyle Poynter led the Tigers with 19 points. Jesse Setters hit three 3-pointers en route to 16 points.
Garith Dedmon and Ethan Widner scored 19 points apiece for Hartville. Jeremy Shaver added 15.
There were 63 combined foul shots in the game. Setters, Justin Buchholz, Weston Walker and Kaleb Poynter all fouled out for Houston.
The game was tied 10-all until Hartville took the lead for good with a quick 10-0 spurt to end the first quarter. The Tigers trailed 28-23 at the half.
Hartville’s advantage stretched to 16 points midway through the third quarter and never got fewer than eight points the rest of the way.
JUNIOR VARSITY: Kyle Jones scored 12 points and Rodney Preheim added 11 to lead the JV Tigers past Hartville 48-43 Friday night.
