University of Missouri Extension in Texas County and the Texas County Soil and Water Conservation District are sponsoring a private pesticide applicators training session for area landowners.

This session begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at the Texas County USDA Service Center in Houston.

Missouri state statute requires that farmers have a pesticide applicators license to purchase and use ‘restricted use’ chemicals.

All farmers whose licenses have expired are required to attend a renewal session to be recertified. Licenses are issued for five-year periods. There is no fee, but a $12 charge to cover the cost of the class training manual is required.

Registration deadline is Friday, Jan. 22, to register for the class. Contact the Texas County SWCD office in Houston at 417-967-2028, ext. #4, or 800-879-8894, ext. #4.
