Texas County residents are invited to participate in the 17th annual “Share a Heart Campaign” that benefits the Ronald McDonald House of the Ozarks in Springfield.
McDonald’s of Houston is participating. Residents can adopt a heart by donating $1 to the drive. With each dollar, the contributor will “autograph” a heart that will be displayed through Valentine’s Day. Every form comes with a registration slip for a $1,000 Visa gift card drawing.
The Ronald McDonald House of the Ozarks, which aids families who have children hospitalized by providing a place to stay, has helped 283 families from the county over the years, including 65 from Houston.
Among those benefiting last year was the Schamber family of Texas County. Trinity Don Schamber was born Feb. 7, five weeks early and had respiratory problems. She required hospitalization, and her family stayed at the Ronald McDonald House. She is the daughter of Gina and Donald Schamber of Mountain Grove.
