The Houston Police Department is investigating a burglary at a Houston business.

Thieves entered the North U.S. 63 Metalweld building Thursday night or early Friday and made off with a significant amount of property. Entry was gained by kicking in a rear door. A south window also had been broken, but entry was not gained, police said.

Telephone lines also had been cut. It is unclear how the suspects drove up to the building in that a gate was locked, police said.

Taken were:

–Hypotherm 1000 Plasma Cutter, estimated worth at $2,400.

–Hypotherm Power Max 45 Plasma Cutter, $2,000.

–Miller M252 Mig Welder, $2,400.

–Lincoln 180 Mig Welder, $900.

–Mikita Chopsaw, $225.

–Hobart 140 Mig Welder, $600.

–Milwaukee Chop Saw, $225.

–Lincoln “Stars and Stripes” Helmet,$180.

Police were called a second time after a 2004 GMC truck was later discovered missing. The keys had been inside the building. The vehicle – which was loaded with merchandise — was later recovered empty that day on property on Strawberry Road. Its front fenders were damaged.
