Carol Dare Braman, 71, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010.

She was born Jan. 31, 1939, in Glendale, Calif., daughter of Daris Victor and Bernys Margretta Nielsen Watson.

She was born legally blind. At age 8, she went to the School for the Blind in Colorado Springs, Colo. She traveled through the mountains by train to see her family. The conductor, Watson, would watch her during the 12-hour trip.

An operation gave her vision in one eye, allowing her to read and write. She attended high school and 1 ½ years of college.

She met her husband, Clare, while working at her business, Carol’s Cornucopia, inside the Fort Carson Hospital. They loved to study the Bible and scriptures together.

Survivors include her husband, Clare Braman of Licking; a sister, Arlene Orton of Deloris, Calif.; and a brother, Dean Watson of Clifton, Colo.

Services were Sunday, April 11, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Troy Miller officiating. Burial was in Licking Cemetery.
