Dorothy Forinash Riddick of Virginia Beach, Va., died Friday, May 28, 2010.

She was born and raised in Missouri. She loved working in her yard. She sculpted with myriad trees and flowers and tended to birds and squirrels. She was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed studying her Bible in preparation of lessons from her preacher, Dale Burden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan R. Riddick; and her parents, Jacob R. and Dorothy Richardson Forinash.

Survivors include four children, Marlene A. Hunnings, Nancy A. Pappas, Sherry A. Daugherty and Gilbert B. Atkisson Jr.; a brother, James Warner Forinash of Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a dog, She-She.

Services were Tuesday, June 1, at Gateway Free Will Baptist Church under the direction of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home of Virginia Beach, Va.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts to Gateway Freewill Baptist Church.
