Cecil C. Jonas, 90, daughter of Horace and Lue (Stroker) Jones, was born March 1, 1920, in Franklinton, Ky. She passed away Sept. 24, 2010, at the Life Care Center of Waynesville.
Cecil grew up in Franklinton, Ky., and attended school in Pleasureville, Ky., where she graduated in 1937.
She married Curtly Marsh in 1938 and they had a daughter, Stella, who was born on April 20, 1940. Cecil then married Fred Jonas in 1956 and they had a daughter, Carol, who was born Aug. 18, 1961.
In her early years, Cecil worked on a tobacco farm near Franklinton, Ky. Her father bought her first guitar when she was very young.
Cecil and her husband, Fred, traveled and moved numerous times during his military career. She worked for a mental hospital in Louisville, Ky., and also worked for a service station in Hawaii. When he was transferred to Fort Leonard Wood, she started working for a service station there. After Cecil retired from the service station in Ft. Wood, she went to work for the FINA station at St. Roberts and then worked to Billington services at Ft. Wood.
All the while, Cecil played country and western music whenever and wherever she could. Playing music was one of favorite pastimes.
Cecil was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands.
She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Stella Perry of Waynesville, Mo., and Carol Jonas of Lebanon, Mo.
Cecil was a feisty lady, when once you met her you never forgot her. She will be greatly missed by her daughters and many friends.
Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Evans Funeral Home with Danny Delcour officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Osborn, Glen Walker, James Fiatte, Darrell Barnes and Joe Layman. Burial was in Palace Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
