The Texas County Sheriff’s Department Friday arrested Houston resident Wayne J. Long Jr. on counts of third-degree domestic assault and second degree property damage.
Long, 63, was issued a pair of citations after he turned himself in at the TCSD office following an incident at his Cleveland Road residence involving a 32-year-old female relative.
According to sheriff’s records, Long repeatedly struck the woman in the face, side and back and broke her cellular phone when she tried to call 911.
The woman, a St. Louis resident, indicated in a statement that she is a recovering alcoholic and that she had been drinking before the incident. Long apparently also tried to drag her to his truck during the dispute, according to a report.
Following are other incidents sheriff department dealt with last week.
Sept. 12
— An officer was dispatched to a Boone Creek Road residence after a man called to report that his son was unruly and breaking items in the home. When the officer arrived, the man stated that he no longer needed assistance.
Sept. 13
— A Raymondville woman came to the TCSD office and reported that a bank bag containing $800 had been stolen from her vehicle. The woman provided a statement indicating she suspected her nephew had taken the bag when she had dropped him off at a relative’s home. An officer contacted the nephew and he denied taking the bag.
Sept. 17
— A Plato man called to report that his brother was unresponsive at their Highway AE residence. The investigating officer reported that ambulance personnel confirmed that the brother was deceased. Roby Fire Department personnel said they had been to the same residence the previous night due to a slip and fall.
— A Plato woman reported that while she was out of town for a couple of weeks several tools had been stolen from the barn on her Highway 17 property. The stolen items, valued at $320, included a basin wrench, a screwdriver set, a battery charger and a 3-foot roll of ½-inch copper tubing.
— An Elk Creek woman came to the TCSD office to report that she was being harassed by an unknown subject. The woman said someone has been turning the lights off in the carport of her Longview Road residence, shooting out the security light, knocking on her doors and running off, and shooting her dogs when they are running loose off of her property. She also stated that she had found bedding in an outbuilding as if someone had been sleeping there.
In a written statement, the woman also said her son had recently found her neighbor in an outbuilding and that the neighbor had tried to strike a deal on stealing things and going 50-50 on them. She said the son ran the neighbor off. She also said two of her dogs had disappeared.
Sept. 18
— A Cabool man called to report the theft of a car battery.
— A Willow Springs woman called to report neighbor problems.
–A Mountain Grove man called to report a trespasser.
