ABOUT ASH GROVE: The Pirates are 2-2 following Friday’s 24-19 loss to Marionville, which scored with 44 seconds remaining in the game. Ash Grove defeated Liberal 42-8 in the season opener and won 43-3 in Week 3 against McAuley Catholic. Their other loss was a 46-0 defeat against Stockton. …Quarterback Nic Cashio was 9-of-16 passing for 113 yards and two scores against Marionville. He also carried the ball 13 times for 46 yards and a touchdown. …Four different players carried the ball against Marionville. Luke Snyder led the team with 18 rushes and 66 yards. Cashio, Nick Console (9 carries, 47 yards) and Cody Jett (4, 22) also carried the ball. …The Pirates held Marionville to 103 rushing yards on 35 attempts. But they gave up 217 passing yards and an average of 21.7 yards per completion. …Ash Grove competes in the Mid Lakes Conference with Strafford, Stockton, Marionville, Skyline, Fair Grove and Pleasant Hope. …The Pirates qualified for the playoffs last season by finishing second in their district.
