An inmate at the South Central Correctional Center was pronounced dead at about midnight Tuesday at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
Willie Prother, 45, was serving a life without parole sentence for first-degree murder from Boone County. He was found guilty of suffocating his 10-month-old daughter and dumping her body at a Columbia park. A city worker found the body slumped in a child’s car seat in a trash barrel.
Per department policy, an autopsy is planned, said Michael Bowersox, warden.
Prother had been in prison since September 1995.
