A Licking man faces multiple charges after refusing to stop for officers early Saturday morning, the Licking Police Department reported.

He was also issued citations for failing to drive on the right half of the roadway, consuming an alcoholic beverage while operating a motor vehicle, failing to register a trailer, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.

According to Licking police, an officer spotted Matchell’s vehicle at 12:45 a.m. Saturday pulling a boat trailer that did not have operable tail lamps or a license plate. Police said Matchell refused to stop when the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

Police said Matchell, who was traveling west from Licking on Highway 32, eventually stopped at a residence on Hazelton Road and was taken into custody with incident.

Officers discovered marijuana inside the vehicle, the Licking Police Department said.
