Officers on the scene Saturday of a South U.S. 63 accident that injured two.

Two people received citations from the Houston Police Department following a three-car accident that took place Saturday at South U.S. 63 and Remington Circle.

The accident occurred at about 12:10 p.m. when a 1992 Geo Tracker driven by Larry C. Wrinkles of Vanzant was stopped in the northbound lane of U.S. 63 and preparing to turn left onto Remington Circle.

Wrinkle’s vehicle was rear-ended by 1990 Chevrolet driven by Rhonda J. Ramsey, 34, of Houston, which caused it to spin counter-clockwise into the path of a 2003 Ford Explorer that was traveling southbound and driven by Ashley D. Bryant of Center Ridge, Ark.

The officer’s report indicated that Ramsey was following too closely behind a white Dodge Ram truck loaded with furniture that was behind Wrinkles and being driven by her friend Evelyn R. Klein of Bucyrus. As the pickup went around Wrinkles on the shoulder to avoid collision, Ramsey was unable to stop and the left-front of her vehicle made impact.

Wrinkles and Ramsey were both taken by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

A witness stated that he had seen brake lights and a turn signal on Wrinkles’ vehicle.

Klein, 36, of 15318 Piney Drive in Bucyrus, was issued a citation on charges of improper passing on the right. The investigating officer stated in his report that she was apparently not paying attention, didn’t notice Wrinkles’ vehicle waiting to turn and used the shoulder to avoid crashing.

Ramsey, of 8227 Fisher Drive in Houston, was ticketed for following too closely behind Klein’s truck.
