(Editor’s note: This letter arrived at the Herald on Monday).
To the editor:
To the people who are responsible: I hope you are proud of yourself for killing our family pet Saturday night on Spruce Street.
It takes talent to aim a 2,000-pound vehicle and run over a 10-pound cat. You must feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. What is more disgusting is stopping your vehicle, get out laughing and take pictures while thinking everything is funny. Anyone who can do this as you and your friends did is callous and heartless.
You obviously have never had someone care for you or cared for something else I feel sorry for you and your friends if this is the way you have fun. I wish you could have seen my wife minutes after you had your photograph session as she picked up her dead cat from the middle of the road.
You might have felt sadness for her but I really doubt it. Your actions show no class or character, and she and I feel pity for you and your friends. This could have easily been avoided if the individual behind the wheel had some empathy.
Sincerely,
John and Lisa Jordan, Houston
