Frances G. Holloway, 88, died Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Willow Care Nursing Home.
She was born September 14, 1922, in Willow Springs, daughter of Harvey and Lula Dryman Stringer. She and Ray M. Holloway were married March 25, 1939, in Houston.
She grew up in Willow Springs. In 1950, she and her husband moved to California, where they lived until 1960. They returned to Willow Springs, where she worked in the school cafeteria, before relocating to Kansas City in 1964. She worked for S&H Green Stamps until returning to Willow Springs in 1973. She worked for her son, Gary, in the only greenhouse in Willow Springs.
She enjoyed creating beautiful ceramic pieces that she sold at numerous craft fairs and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; five brothers, Ewing, Sonny, Tom, Russell and Clifford Stringer; a sister, Geneva Luttrell; and a grandson.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Ray Holloway and Kenneth Charles Holloway of Hollister and Danny Eugene Holloway of Willow Springs; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother Richard Stringer of Cabool; two sisters, Othene Brigance of Cabool and Betty Corn of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services were Tuesday, May 31, in Willow Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Willow Funeral Home
Donations may be made in her name to the Willow Springs Scholarship Club.
