Dr. Charles Mueller, general surgeon at Texas County Memorial Hospital, has renegotiated his employment contract with the hospital. It renews annually each summer.
“I am very grateful to the board of trustees for working with me,” Mueller said.
Mueller said he expressed his gratitude in person in the closed session portion of the June 28 hospital board meeting.
In his contract negotiations, Mueller requested some small changes be made regarding his time in the office and his time out of the office. These changes will allow Mueller to do some medical mission work in Africa, where he lived as a child.
“Texas County is my home, and I’m glad to see that people from all over the county continue to use TCMH for all of their healthcare needs, including general surgery,” Mueller said.
Wes Murray, chief executive officer at TCMH, considers physician retention to be to the success of TCMH.
“It’s critical for hospitals to find and retain qualified physicians,” he said. “It’s even harder to do in a rural area.
“Dr. Mueller is a great asset to our hospital and to our community. It is a pleasure to continue to work with him.”
Mueller is a board certified general surgeon. He began his general surgery practice in Houston at The Professional Building in 1997. He practices today in the TCMH Medical Complex on the hospital’s main campus.
Mueller provides services in breast health and surgery; laparoscopic surgery for gallbladder removal, appendectomies and tubal ligations; vasectomy; colonoscopy and upper endoscopy; hernia repair; and hemorrhoid and colon surgery.
Mueller served as chief of staff at TCMH from 2002 until he stepped down from the post in March 2011. He currently serves as vice chief of the TCMH medical staff and as the chief of surgery.
Mueller and his wife, Anne-Marie, reside in Houston. They have two grown sons.
