Storms packing high winds are expected in the county, along with lightning.

A Sunday night storm packing high winds left trees down and disrupted electric service in Texas County. The eastern part of the county sustained the heaviest damage.

Trees were reported down on several roads and highways. Missouri Department of Transportation crews worked to move them.

A 32-year-old Winona man lost his live when a tree fell on his vehicle in Shannon County. Dead is Charles W. Brewer, who was pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View.

On Morgan Road in eastern Texas County a tree was reported in a house. The county Red Cross chapter was activated.

Firefighters said the roof at city hall was blown off.

Houston’s storm shelter at First and Pine streets in Houston opened as the National Weather Service warned of the possibility of strong storms that earlier had left their mark on the Hartville area.
