Richard M. “Dick” Hensley, 72, of Lee’s Summit, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011.

He was born July 3, 1939, in Brookfield, son of Marvin and Genevieve Moeder Hensley. He and Susie were married Nov. 20, 1965.

He oversaw day-to-day operations at Overhead Door Company in Prudoe Bay, Alaska. In 2000, he returned to Kansas City, where he owned and operated his own business, Country Side Overhead Door in Pleasant Hill.

He had a love and passion for racing and street rods. He served in the Marine Reserve for 6 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sondra Sue Johnson.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Susie; a niece; four nephews; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; four special friends, Daniel, Alyssa, Emily, and Caleb Engelhardt; and other relatives.

Services were Monday, Oct. 24, at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit. Burial was in Lee’s Summit Cemetery.
