Linda Lou Smith, 70 years, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

She was born Sept. 22, 1941, in Summersville, daughter of Edgar Ervin and Wilma Louise Weaver Carmack. She and Merle Smith were married Nov. 26, 1960.

She grew up in the Summersville area, attending and graduating from Summersville School in 1959.

She played an active role in the Summersville Saddle Club. She enjoyed keeping up with friends and family on Facebook, quilting and playing games. She loved cooking and music. She played a role in the Big Creek Opry, where she was showcased as Dolly Parton and Tillie. She loved traveling with family and friends and shopping.

She was active in the Summersville First Baptist Church. She served as secretary of the Intercounty Electric Co-op Auxiliary board and held the offices of vice president and president of the Missouri Rural Electric Co-op Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ronnie Earl Carmack; and her father, Homer Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Merle of the home; four children, Keith Smith of Eminence, Lisa Fann of Montier, Jeff Smith of Belle and Stacey Smith of Bonnots Mill; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Jimmy Carmack of Bonne Terre; two sisters, Sue Bird of Summersville and Barbara Stricklin of Bonne Terre; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Services were Monday, Nov. 14, at Summersville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Boyd officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
