Oris Weber

Oris Dewayne Weber, 73, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at St. John’s Regional Health Center.

He was born Nov. 29, 1938, in Competition, son of Fred and Myrtle Dowden Weber. He and Shirley Fay Postlewait were married Aug. 15, 1959.

He bought his first farm at age 23 and has continued to farm since that time. He and his wife, Shirley, have owned many businesses over the years.

He was a longtime member of the Plato School Board.

He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 16 and enjoyed the privilege of testifying and sharing his faith with others in the community. He was most recently a member of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church. He enjoyed attending services and visiting with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Calvin Weber and Delvin Weber; and a sister, Doris Pate.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Shirley of the home; three sons, George Dewayne Weber of Success, Steven Ray Weber of Success and Albert Lee Weber of Lynchburg; a daughter, Sandra Fay Weber of Marshfield; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lola Thompson of Memphis, Tenn., and Helen Barnes of Manes; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were Saturday, Feb. 4, at Plato Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip McGuire and Shannon Lewis officiating. Burial was in Mount Carney Cemetery in Lynch burg under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
