The Bakers will perform at Twin Pines Conservation Education Center at the 5th annual Heritage Day from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Along with the fish fry by Dennis McSpadden sponsored by the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation, a host of demonstrators including soapmakers, turkey call makers, blacksmith, paddle makers and woodworkers will be on hand to give visitors a view into the daily lives of Ozarkers nearly a century ago.
Archery lessons, bird and tree identification, spinners and weavers will be on hand as well. For this event only, families can fish without a permit with special permission from MDC’s Director Bob Ziehmer. Fishing tackle and bait are all provided.
The fish fry will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or while supplies last. From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the Bakers including Missouri and Arkansas State Champion Fiddler Trustin Baker (age 13), Carina Baker (age 10) who placed third in Tennessee for old time dance and Elijah Baker (age 8) who accompanies on the upright bass. There is no cost, and registration is not required. Off-site parking is available on Highway 19 North in Winona, and shuttle service runs from 9:30 a.m. throughout the event.
