Donald Shrout

Donald Raymond Shrout, 63, died Saturday, June 9, 2012, while camping with his family.

He was born Oct. 29, 1948, in Chicago, Ill., son of Joseph Gann and Letha York Kempski. He and Frances “Sugie” Sullins were married Aug. 5, 1969, in Licking.

He grew up and attended school in Illinois. He lived in Missouri for many years.

He was a construction contractor for several years.

He enjoyed camping with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, gardening and mushroom hunting.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; his parents; two stepfathers, Hank Shrout and Casimer Kempski; two brothers, Terry and Mike Shrout; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include five daughters, Peggi Payton of Meansville, Ga., Pamela Lewis of Mountain Grove, Deborah Goforth of Plato, Bessie “Kathie” Volner of Norwood and Rayna Shrout of Licking; 13 granddaughters, a brother, Kimberly Shrout of Illinois; many half-siblings; his stepmother, Nelda Gann of Licking; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were Saturday, June 23, at the Boiling Springs Recreational Area in Licking. Arrangements were under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
