Edith Atkisson, 97, of Licking, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
She was born Nov. 10, 1914, in Dent, daughter of James Luther Ellis and Avo Isabelle Willhite.
She attended Craddock Elementary School, Licking High School and the Chillicothe School of Business.
She worked at the Fort Leonard Wood Hospital, the Army Finance Center in San Antonio, Texas, the Air Force Finance Center in Denver, Colo., and the FAA and Space System Division in Los Angeles, Calif. She retired in 1972.
She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She attended the First Church of God in St. James.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mildred Stone and Ermal Cochran.
Survivors include two children, Eula Walton of Kirksville and Bula Parizotto of Chesapeake, Va.; four grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Tubbs officiating. Visitation is 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Licking Cemetery.
