A Houston man faces numerous charges after evading law enforcement officers in a foot pursuit early Monday afternoon. He was apprehended a couple of hours later while sitting in the back seat of a car parked outside a Houston retail location.
The scenario began at about 1 p.m. when a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper initiated a traffic stop on Lilly Road just off of Highway 17 east of Houston. When the trooper approached the car, a man bolted from inside and ran off into an adjacent wooded area.
Three officers from the Texas County Sheriff’s Department and one from the Houston Police Department responded to the scene and joined two troopers in on a search for the man –– without success. The man was identified as Eddie Day, 22, who had multiple active warrants for his arrest.
An investigation ensued in which officers visited Day’s residence at a trailer park on north Highway 63. A tip received a short time later led to Day being found as a passenger in a vehicle at Smokers Express on Sam Houston Boulevard.
He was arrested by state troopers and charged with felony probation and parole violation, felony resisting arrest by fleeing, felony possession of stolen property (copper), a misdemeanor Houston Police Department warrant charging him with having no driver’s license and a misdemeanor Licking Police Department warrant charging him with failure to appear on a driving while suspended charge.
Day, who is also reportedly a person of interest in another crime, was taken to the Texas County Jail and held without bond.
During the initial traffic stop, another member of the Day family with an active warrant was found inside the car. Tera N. Day, 21, of Houston, was arrested on a misdemeanor Texas County warrant charging her with passing bad checks. She was taken to the Texas County Jail and held without bond.
At 2 p.m. Monday, the MSHP also arrested Kevin L. Day, 30, of Houston, on a felony charge of receiving stolen property. He is also held at the Texas County Jail without bond.
