Ruth Ann Swetnam, 70, of Plato, died Thursday, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 20, 1941, in Harrisburg, Ill., daughter of James Alvin and Harriet Roseanna Baldwin Wren. She and Leroy Swetnam were married June 15, 1963.
She grew up in Harrisburg, Ill., and graduated from Harrisburg High School.
She enjoyed doing ceramics, painting figurines, playing computer games and reading. She loved to sing. She would take her karaoke machine to different churches around the area and sing gospel music.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Dena Janell Swetnam; and seven siblings, Charlie Edward Dean Wren, Gerald Leon Wren, Clarence Lyle Wren, James Alvin Wren, Wilma McClendon, Neva Janell and John Robert Wren.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Leroy of the home; a son, Michael Leroy Swetnam of Springfield; a daughter, Karen Lynn Swetnam of Plato; a grandson; two sisters, Mary Louise Sanchez of Waukegan, Ill., and Mildred Gollier of Plainfield, Ill.; and many other family and friends.
A celebration of life is 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Plato Christian Church with Eugene Earp officiating. Inurnment will be in Long Hollow Cemetery at a later date. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association.
