A Cabool woman was issued a citation for failure to obey a police officer after she attempted to turn over a boy at the Houston Police Department just after midnight Aug. 6.
Cited was Shirley I. Smith, 57, of 696 Finley Drive in Cabool, who had reportedly arrived at the police station intending to drop off an 11-year-old boy who had come to her home to visit her grandson for the week.
Smith claimed she couldn’t control the boy and wanted to turn him over to DFS, according to a report. Officers involved in the incident reported that when Smith was asked to provide identification, she refused and even became belligerent and called them names. She was subsequently cited.
The boy’s mother reportedly lives in Winfield.
