The 2012 Houston High School homecoming parade has been canceled due to inclement weather, principal Charlie Malam announced this afternoon.

Malam hoped to postpone the parade until next weekend. But after further discussions, he determined it wouldn’t be possible. He said a few of the floats were built on trailers loaned to the school by individuals who needed them returned Saturday. Malam also said there were persons scheduled to be in the parade and could not participate next weekend.

The queen coronation, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will be held as scheduled if possible, Malam said. Kickoff of the football game between the Tigers and Cabool is 7 p.m.

“We plan to try to pull it off if the weather cooperates,” Malam said.

Malam said school will not dismiss early as planned today. He said there will be a pep rally during seventh hour.
