Helen Marie Robertson Maxvill, 91, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Ozarks Medical Center.
She was born July 3, 1921, in Bendavis, daughter of William Ira “W.I.” and Artie Ragsdale Robertson. She and Lester Ival Maxvill were married June 21, 1941, in Huggins. He died March 24, 1990.
She grew up in Texas County and graduated from Houston High School in 1941.
She was a member of the Women’s Progressive Farmer’s Association (WPFA) for many years and was also a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross.
She enjoyed quilting and started oil painting in her 1980s. She was a member of the Abundant Life Church in Dunn. She served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
She lived at Pineview Heights and Landmark Villa in Cabool the past 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester; an infant daughter, Lyla Jean; a brother, Earl Robertson; two sisters, Bernice Sexton and Faye Blackmon; and a granddaughter.
Survivors include two sons, Louie Maxvill and Merlin Maxvill of Mountain Grove; a daughter, Linda Tarpley, of Conway, Ark.; seven brothers, Orville “Shorty” Robertson, Dale Robertson, Don Robertson and Francis Robertson of Mountain Grove, Norman Robertson and Robert Robertson of Kansas City and Dean Robertson of Springfield; a sister, Shirley Goforth of St. Robert; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Services were Saturday, Oct. 6, at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darrell Mayberry officiating. Burial was in the Number One Cemetery at Huggins.
