Texas County deputies are investigating several crimes in the county.

Texas County Sheriff’s Department officers investigated several calls during the past week from citizens reporting damage to their property and other matters.

The following are summaries of written reports submitted during the week by sheriff’s department officers:

Nov. 14

––Representatives of a Business U.S. 60 farm supply store at Mountain Grove reported that after $1,548 worth of work was done to a Mansfield man’s hay baler, the man stopped payment on a check he had given the store.

An investigating officer advised the manager of the store that the customer would have to be sent a registered letter indicating he would need to pay within 10 days or face criminal charges.

––A 60-year-old Licking man reported at about 12:30 a.m. that he had loaned a Chevrolet S-10 to his son the previous night and that the son’s girlfriend had taken it and was refusing to return it.

An officer made contact with the girlfriend and advised her to return the vehicle. The man called at about 8 p.m. to report that the vehicle had been returned.

Nov. 15

––A man called to report suspicious activity at a Boiling Springs Road residence.

An investigating officer went to the location and made contact with six men with two pickup trucks bearing Vermont license plates.

One of the men told the officer he owned the property, and the men were there to hunt.

Nov. 16

––A deputy reported that on Nov. 10 he had investigated a report of property damage at a Ranch Road residence at Tyrone.

The officer stated that he observed damage to a pair of mailboxes, and that two posts that secure a gate at the entrance to the property were ripped from the ground from an apparent collision by a vehicle.

A 59-year-old woman who lives at the location told the officer that she has had trouble with a 61-year-old female neighbor who is a Canadian citizen. The officer was unable to make contact with the neighbor, but did notice black paint, chrome paint and black plastic residue on the gray entrance gate.

––A deputy reported that on Nov. 10 he had been dispatched to a New Hope Drive residence at Elk Creek regarding a reported break in.

An 80-year-old woman who lives at the location told the officer that her grandson had come home and found the garage door and a door to the side of the garage both damaged. She stated that no entry had been made to the home and that nothing appeared to be missing. There are no suspects.

––An officer reported that on Nov. 9 he had gone to a Shaffer Road residence to investigate property damage.

A 39-year-old man who lives at the location told the officer that someone had cut six screens out of windows and tried to break knobs off of doors. The man stated that nothing had apparently been stolen. There are no suspects.
