The Houston School District’s annual audit report was tabled last week due to the absence of the auditor, the school board heard.
Superintendent Scott Dill said the school’s auditor, Mike Catlett, was unable to attend.
During the meeting, school board members:
––Approved the Request for Proposal (RFP) prepared by Dill that allows the district to evaluate vendors for potential energy efficiency and renovation projects. Responses are due by noon Dec. 6.
––Recognized the achievements of the Houston High School softball team, which won the program’s first-ever district championship in October, and the Future Farmers of America grasslands team. Members of both groups began the meeting with the pledge of allegiance.
––Selected an anonymous nominee for the Belcher scholarship after reviewing essays.
––Received a new superintendent evaluation instrument, created by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The board will not utilize the instrument during the upcoming evaluation cycle, but will instead study it for implementation in the future.
––Heard reports related to the Early Childhood Education and Parents as Teachers programs.
During closed session, board members:
––Accepted the resignation of Raylene Wilson.
––Approved hiring Amber Clinton as a paraprofessional for the remainder of the school year.
––Approved hiring Tina Boykin, Susanne McChesney, Chastity Mace, Patsy Rader, Destiny Wilson and Stephanie Moseley as substitute teachers for the remainder of the school year.
––Heard details of a student issue from Dill. No board action was required.
–Approved a quit claim deed for property on Lot 7 at Cedar Ridge Estate Subdivision.
––Received a report of a parent request to drop off a student at an alternate destination when needed. The board affirmed, without a vote, to make the decision at the district level.
All board members were in attendance. The next school board meeting is 6 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Exceptional Child Cooperative.
