Texas County authorities handled several investigations — many of them burglary related — during the last week.

Numerous written reports submitted last week by officers with the Texas County Sheriff’s Department once again documented investigations of reported break-ins and burglaries in several communities.

Many guns were reported taken.

The following are summaries of some of those reports, and others:

Dec. 17

––An officer reported that on Dec. 14 he had investigated a report of two mules without food and water at a Highway 137 property near Willow Springs. The officer and a Missouri Department of Agriculture veterinarian went to the location and determined that the mules had good access to food and water and were in excellent condition.

Dec. 19

––A 44-year-old Plato man reported that a Glock 9-millimeter pistol and two magazines were missing from a safe at his Biram Road residence. There are no suspects.

Dec. 22

––The Howell County Sheriff’s Department reported that a stolen Chevrolet pickup truck had been located at a Colburn Road address in Texas County.

An investigating officer stated the truck was gone when he arrived at the location. The vehicle was tracked by GPS and located by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Douglas County.

––An officer reported that on Dec. 16 an 84-year-old Licking man had reported that his Highway C residence had been burglarized and six guns with a total value of $3,500 had been stolen.

The man stated that the swiped firearms included a shotgun valued at $1,500 (manufacturer unknown), a Browning shotgun, $1,200; and four other rifles worth between $125 and $350.

The man also said $80 in rolled coins were stolen.

The reporting officer stated that there are no suspects, but that a light green, mid-’90s Dodge or Chrysler van that was seen in the area might have been involved.

Dec. 23

––An officer reported that on Dec. 17 a 79-year-old Plato man had reported that a trailer home on Slabtown Road had been broken into.

The man stated that an air conditioning unit, an antique china cabinet, numerous other household items had been stolen, along with most of the copper tubing in the residence. He said an outside faucet had been bent as if it was run over.

––An officer reported that on Dec. 16 a 67-year-old Plato woman had reported that several units at a Roby storage unit facility had been broken into.

Upon arrival, the investigating officer observed four units that were open, but nobody was around. The area was photographed, and written statement forms were left for unit owners to fill out.

––An officer reported that on Dec. 17 a 69-year-old Licking man reported that his Highway C residence had been broken into and numerous items with a total value of $1,700 had been stolen.

The man stated that swiped goods included a Murray riding mower valued at $500, a .22-caliber rifle valued at $250, a carpet shampooer, two microwave ovens, two TVs, two DVD players, and several other household items.

The man told the investigating officer that he hadn’t actually lived in the home for about a year. There are no suspects.
