A Houston man received four citations after fleeing from an officer into a neighborhood, authorities said.

A Houston man was issued four citations by the Houston Police Department and faces felony resisting charges following a traffic stop Dec. 9.

An officer made the stop at about 1 a.m. after observing a white GMC Jimmy moving erratically on Chestnut Street and again after it tuned onto Highway 17. After the officer activated the emergency lights on his patrol car, the vehicle stopped abruptly in a business parking lot, and its male driver and a female passenger both got out and fled on foot. The officer pursued the driver, who eventually ran into a fence at a Dooley Street residence and flipped over to the other side. The officer followed him over the fence, but the man ran again. The officer then caught the suspect and took him to the ground, but he continued to resist.

After handcuffing the suspect, the officer smelled alcohol on his breath, but the man refused to submit to a breath test.

When they returned to the man’s car was parked, the officer noticed an open can of beer in the console.

The incident concluded with David L. Lange, 26, of 225 Brushy Creek Road at Houston, being cited for driving whole intoxicated, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, driving while license revoked and felony resisting arrest by fleeing.

After being transported to the Texas County Jail, Lange agreed to a breath test, which came up positive.
