A pair of Raymondville brothers each received three citations following an incident at the Office Bar on Grand Avenue in downtown Houston.
As a result of their role in the Jan. 7 incident, Terry W. Elliot, 33, and James A. Elliot, 30, both of 317 E. Hwy B at Raymondville, were each cited on charges of resisting a law enforcement officer and third-degree assault. Terry was also cited for assault on a law enforcement officer and James was charged with property damage.
The incident began when two officers were dispatched to the bar in reference to a possible fight. Upon arrival, the officers observed two men fighting and ordered them to stop.
One of the men, James Elliot, refused to comply and the officers attempted to pull him away from the other man. At that point, Terry Elliot reportedly struck one of the officers and then grabbed him by the neck, attempting to pull him away from the brother, according to a report. The other officer and several bar patrons then took Terry Elliot to the floor.
The two brothers continued to resist and try to fight, but they were eventually subdued and taken to the Texas County Jail, according to a report.
An employee of the bar told the officers that the melee began when one of the brothers threw up and James Elliot began fighting with a man who was helping clean up the mess. A small table was reportedly damaged during the scuffle.
