A 26-year-old Houston man and a 19-year-old Yukon woman were arrested Jan. 6 and face possible drug charges after a Missouri Department of Conservation officer discovered a meth lab in the vehicle they were in and contacted the Texas County Sheriff’s Department.

In a written report submitted by a deputy, the conservation officer stated he was patrolling the area of Slaughter Road and Boone Creek Road at about 7 p.m. and noticed a vehicle parked behind an abandoned house. When he stopped to investigate, he made contact with two people in the vehicle and observed what looked like items used for manufacturing meth on the back floorboard of the vehicle.

The officer then handcuffed the two suspects and called the sheriff’s department. Deputies and South-central Drug Task Force personnel arrived at the scene and the items found in the car were identified as a meth lab.

The man and woman were taken to the Texas County Jail, and probable cause statements were sent to the county prosecutor.
