A benefit concert and silent auction for listener supported community radio station KZGM 88.1 FM of Cabool (KZ88) is set for 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Yellow House Community Arts Center in West Plains.
In addition to live music, the event will include, chili and
cornbread, desserts, and a silent auction. There is a suggested donation of $10 at the door.
Music will be provided by Linda Stoffel and Friends, Van Colbert and the Colbert Brothers, and Chris Feaster at the piano.
“We are excited to be celebrating our fourth year on-air as one of only four community radio stations in the whole state of Missouri,” said Cabool resident and KZ88 board member Karen Montgomery. “Our area is fortunate to have this excellent source of news and in-depth analysis, music, all kinds of useful information and entertainment.”
“It has been a lot of fun featuring our local friends, neighbors, and events throughout our coverage area on the Ozark Uplift program and others,” said Kazie Perkins, also a director of KZ88. “We are an all-volunteer, non-commercial, non-profit, truly listener-supported station. We look forward to ever more involvement of the people in our communities.
Everyone deserves a voice.”
“This fundraiser is a fun event for a great cause,” said Barbara Leary of Moody, a volunteer who will coordinate the auction. “This is your chance to clear your house of good quality items by contributing them for the auction.”
Auction items may be taken to the front porch of the Yellow House (at 29 Trish Knight Blvd. in West Plains) on Mondays through Thursdays. Other drop-off points include Willow Ann-tiques (on East Main Street in Willow Springs), Sunshine Market (at 28 West First Street in Mountain View), and the KZ88 studio (at 1211 Ozark St. in Cabool).
“Some of us will remember that the world came to a quick end on 12/21/12, and some of you may have actually noticed that it was close to instantly replaced by something almost identical – identical except for even better radio: KZ88,” said KZ88 director Myron Jackson.
