A new year brings with it a name change for a Houston church.
The former Assembly of God Church will now be known as “Life Church: An Assembly of God Congregation.”
Pastor Nick Melton said the church will reveal a new sign Sunday morning. They have been given space on U.S. 63 by the Hunter Oil Company to replace the previous Conoco sign with their new church logo.
“As we have been here the past year, we have felt the Lord speaking to us about the word ‘life,’” Melton said. “We believe God is passionate about life. We can see throughout the Bible that God loves life.
“As a church, we have decided to move forward with this vision and are excited to see what God is going to do this year and the years to come. We are excited for all that God has done in the past and all that He is doing in the present and all that He will do in the future as we start the new year with a new name and a new vision.”
February is missions month at Life Church. Schedule events include:
––Rebecka Moore, missionary to Bata, Equatorial Guinea on Feb. 3.
––Stan Welch, director/secretary of the Southern Missouri District on Feb. 17.
–– John and Barbara Wright, missionaries to Asia Pacific on Feb. 24.
“This will be a challenging yet encouraging month of focusing on our missionaries that we support monthly,” Melton said.
Life Church meets for Sunday school at 9:45 a.m., followed by morning worship at 10:45 a.m. and evening worship at 6 p.m. on Sundays. There is adult bible study, royal rangers and impact girls ministries at 7 p.m. Wednesdays.
