Ice sits atop a vehicle in downtown Houston early Thursday.

The following closings, cancellations, postponements and weather-related announcements have been shared with the Herald:

  • The Owl Prowl scheduled for Saturday at the Alley Spring General Store Visitor Center beginning at 5:30 p.m. has been cancelled.  Icy roads caused by Winter Storm Q still exist in the Eminence area, making travel hazardous.  “Safety is a priority for our visiting public,” said Superintendent Bill Black.  The program will be rescheduled in March.  Look for future announcements. 
  • The senior centers in Houston and Licking are closed Friday. There will be no meal delivery.
  • All Texas County schools have cancelled Friday classes.
  • Friday’s FFA labor auction and middle school dance at Houston Schools have been postponed.
  • The Texas County Health Department is closed Friday.
  • WIC is postponed Friday in Summersville. Call the Houston office next week at 417-967-4131 to reschedule.
  • Friday’s weekly meeting of the Houston Lions Club has been canceled.
  • The Texas County Food Pantry is closed Friday. For assistance, call the sheriff’s department at 417-967-4165.
  • The Texas County Soil and Water Conservation District has rescheduled Thursday’s Beef Sire Selection Workshop for March 7 at First Baptist Church.
